Lots of breaking up and little making up in Hollywood leading up to Valentine's Day
There should be candy, flowers, and lots of loving going on as V-Day approaches; instead, there’s desperation in Hollywood throughout the music and television worlds. Rihanna and ChrisFirst, up the train wreck that is the relationship between singer Rihanna and Chris Brown. Rihanna and Brown were supposed to perform at The Grammy’s. Instead news that Brown allegedly attacked his girlfriend of one year overshadowed the awards show on Sunday night. Now, Mediatakeout.com is reporting on the extent of her injuries, which includes bruising to her head, nose, lips, and cheeks and arms. Brown was charged with making criminal threats and released on $50,000 bail. He’s since hired attorney Mark Geragos who is known for defending Michael Jackson during his child molestation trial, Winona Ryder after she was arrested for shoplifting, and convicted murderer Scott Peterson. Glum at Grey’s AnatomyThese kids have been griping and looking glum for months so the news was inevitable. Actors T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl are heading out of the hospital, Seattle Grace that is, and the fictitious world of Grey’s Anatomy. This revelation comes from co-star James Pickens Jr. who plays Chief-of-Staff, Dr. Richard Webber. Pickens is quoted by Us Weekly as simply saying, “Yes, she is,” when asked if Heigl was leaving the show. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best,” he said. Pickens also said Knight is “going too. “He just wanted to pursue other career paths,” Pickens added. Heigl, 30, and Knight, 35, have been anything but shy about their frustrations with the primetime series that brought them fame and fortune. Both have been regular cast members since the show began in 2005. No official comment from ABC or creator Shonda Rhimes. Desperate HousewivesThe desperation and frustration was equally evident on Wisteria Lane in the over-Botoxed character of Edie Britt. ABC has told People Magazine that Nicollette Sheridan is leaving after five seasons of playing a saucy divorcee. Her final episode airs in April but there’s no word on what her next project is. Suite101 predicts Dancing with the Stars in 2011. (That’s after every other has-been reality show rejects her.) Desperate Marleys Seek to Licence Singer’s ImageThe Wall Street Journal reports that Bob Marley's family is looking to license the reggae legend's likeness, trademarks, and themes to apparel, food, video games, and a vast array of other products. The family hopes to tap into an estimated $600-million (USD) in annual worldwide sales of unlicensed Marley products. At the top of the list is Marley Lager, a Jamaican beer featuring the Bob Marley’s likeness, followed by headphones, snowboards (inexplicably), posters, screen-savers, coffee and many other products also under consideration. A bong springs to mind. With February filled with this much drama and desperation, does anyone else fear what the Ides of March could bring? ADDENDUM: As of Valentine's Day, T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl are reportedly slinking back to Grey's Anatomy. For now.
